Magic 2012
Magic 2011
Magic 2011 is a core set consisting of 249 cards that was released July 16, 2010. This core set contains nearly half new cards and the rest are reprinted from earlier sets. M11 introduced us to the new Titans – Primeval Titan, Grave Titan, Frost Titan, Sun Titan, and Inferno Titan. The set also reprinted all the Planeswalkers first found in Lorwyn but included new signature spell cards for each Planeswalker (Jace's Erasure, Liliana's Specter, Chandra's Outrage and Garruk's Companion). This set also marked the return of 60 card intro decks instead of the 41 card decks that had been printed for new sets since Shards, allowing players to have a functional deck for tournaments. M11 includes most of the evergreen mechanics (excluding double strike and intimidate) and also includes the non-evergreen mechanic Scry.
Magic 2010
Magic 2010 is the MTG core set released in 2009. This 249 set is the first core set since Beta to include new cards, not just reprints. With the release of M10 also came the announcement that there will now be a core set released every year, instead of every two years. In addition to all the Planeswalker’s from Lorwyn being reprinted, new cards like Vampire Nocturnus were introduced and made Vampire decks a popular format for players. Baneslayer Angel was also introduced to players, helping to defend against Demons and Dragons. M10 was a game changer, literally, as several rules regarding combat damage, deathtouch, lifelink and mana burn, were changed.
